1. Pigments


Pigment is a chemical substance that gives coloring effect to color masterbatch. In general, the more uniform the pigment is dispersed in the masterbatch, the better the coloring effect is, the stronger the coloring force will be. In order to disperse the pigment more evenly in the masterbatch, it is closely related to the dispersing property of the pigment itself, and the dispersion of the pigment itself is related to its chemical structure, and it is not described here. In order to promote the dispersion of pigment, dispersants and suitable carriers are often added to the masterbatch to achieve the best color effect.


2, dispersant


During the use of pigments, condensation occurs because of their chemical structure and large specific surface area. Dispersant is the promoter of the dispersion of pigment in the resin carrier. The main function is to cover the surface of the pigment particles and disperse the pigment into fine, stable and uniformly distributed particles in the plastic, and no longer condenses in the process. The pigment is dispersed in masterbatch and plastic products with better aggregate state. At the same time, it has good compatibility with resin and will not affect the quality of products. The melting point of dispersant is generally lower than that of resin, and has better affinity with pigment.


3, carrier


The carrier is the matrix of the masterbatch and can make the masterbatch become granular. Its function is to carry pigments. During melting process, pigment particles are evenly distributed throughout the resin system, which promotes the dispersion of pigment and facilitates granulation. The effect of the carrier is also the good compatibility between the color masterbatch and the matrix resin when the color masterbatch is used, and the effect of the color masterbatch on the physical and chemical properties of the matrix resin is reduced.


4. Antioxidants


Polymer materials are often subjected to oxygen and ozone in the process of processing, storage and use. This oxidation reaction is accelerated especially in heat and light, causing the degradation of the molecular chain of polymers, thus reducing the physical and mechanical properties of the products (such as strength, elasticity, electrical insulation, etc.), yellow appearance and change. Crisp and so on. In order to prolong the life of polymer materials, the oxidation degradation or crosslinking should be suppressed or delayed. The antioxidants are usually added, and the principle of synergistic effect is used to improve the heat resistance and coloring properties of the masterbatch.


During the production of granulation, the color masterbatch is affected by the high temperature and strong shear force of the twin screw extruder, which causes the color change and the degradation of the resin in the color masterbatch. In order to reduce the change of the color masterbatch during the granulation, the general color masterbatch needs to be added to the color masterbatch to keep the color of the masterbatch.
